    1. I’m embarrassed to admit that at the age of 52, this long weekend is the first time I’ve ever vacationed alone. Get-a-ways always involved ex-husband, kids and ex-man friend. I have to say though – I feel like I went through some sort of reincarnation in just the few days I was there. Every single minute of it felt spiritual, and now I’m excited about taking some “real” trips i.e. farther than five hour drive from home. It was truly a blessing, and one I desperately needed.

  1. I’m happy to have found your blog! I also write creative non-fiction and memoir essays……and knit. I was drawn initially to the title of your blog, because I was born in Anchorage. I love this post . While alone we can find out marvelous as well, I suppose, as not so marvelous truths.

    1. Barb, thank you for your kind words. The weekend I went in search of myself was spent in a rainy Homer. I wish I could have bottled the way I felt driving home that Sunday. Looking back at the pictures now, I realize I how desperately I need another solo weekend of escape.
